Larnaca International Airport (LCA/LCLK) Plane Spotting Information

​Key Plane Spotting Information and Locations for Larnaca International Airport (written by @cy__aviation).

1.  Makenzy Beach. Here you can sit back and relax while watching the planes land and take off . This location is a dream spot for all spotters as you get awesome and closeup views of the planes when landing and the planes taxiing to the runway when runway 22 is used. I would recommend using a lens with a focal length of 70-300mm. Best times to spot here is after lunchtime but in the morning there is great lighting for when the planes are holding just before the runway. When runway 04 is operated it is a great spot to catch the departures as they fly right over the beach!
   
   

   
   
2. Spyros Beach (Dog Beach). Great spot to see the arrivals when runway 22 is in use and the departures when runway 04 is in use. Best time to spot from this location would be during the morning as the sun is behind you. Also key to note that during the summer period there is a lot of heat haze towards lunchtime and might affect image quality. The lens I would recommend for this location would be 100-400mm, but any telephoto lens would do just fine! 
   
   
   
3. Bird Observation Deck at Meneou. This location isn’t far from Spyros Beach and provides nice views for the departures during runway 22 operations. Also when runaway 04 is used it makes for great photos of the arrivals touching down. Best times to use this location would be during the morning. The lens needed for this location would be anything over 300mm. 
   
   
   
4. Along Meneou-Pervolia Road. This spot is preferred when runway 04 is used as it is a good spot to catch the landings. For this location it is important to keep in mind the location of the sun in order for the photos to be well lit, thus needing to adjust the location at the start or at the end of the road depending on the time of day. Lens that is needed here would be anything above 150mm. 
   
   
   
5. Larnaca Salt Lake Road. At this location there are awesome views of the planes taking off either from runway 22 or 04. Also it provides some nice views of the planes taxiing towards the runway and terminal. Important to keep in mind, during the summer period there is a lot of heat haze, it is recommended that this location is more ideal during the afternoon when the heat haze is reduced. Lens needed at this location would be anything above 200mm. 
   

   
   
6. LCA Apron 2. Along the Salt Lake road Larnaca’s Apron 2 is visible from the road. The planes at Apron 2 mostly are private jets and cargo planes, together with the planes under maintenance by Bird Aviation. Views of the landings when runway 22 is used are possible and the take offs for runway 04. Lens needed would range between 100-300mm. 
   
   
   
7. Airport Terminal. Anywhere along the airport terminal there are views of the planes. Along the drop-off zone of the car and busses there are views of the planes going to their gates and views of the remote stands. Also, there are some awesome views within the duty free of the airport of planes pushing back and taxiing! Lens needed here would range from 75-300mm.
